TWA - OT Joshua 14

I wrote a long entry this morning, and it has mysteriously disappeared!

So I'll give you a short version.

Today's reading, I realized that "Joshua Gen" is not just for young people.
You know how people think it's about youth movement?
(youth is defined differently by people also)
but when you read the Bible, you realize their leaders (Joshua & Caleb) were like 85+ years, and most of the warriors are 60 years and under. They are not exactly spring chickens!

So what makes "Joshua Generation"?
I observed somethings in past few days reading...
1. They are innocent of grumbling
2. They wholly followed the Lord
3. They were aware of the warfare around us
4. They set themselves apart consciously

When the exiled Israelites complained and grumbled, they were just kids, so they didn't participate in that.
Because they grew up in the wilderness wandering, they didn't have bad influence from other cultures, and they simply obeyed the commandments given by Moses.
They were facing so many battles that they consiously kept their spirit up. Discouraged and negative troops can never win the battles!
They got circumcised (most of them were adult already. outch!) and sanctified themselves each time the Lord came to do mighty miracles.

Caleb encouraged me so much. Even though he is 85 years old, he kept his faith.
He never doubted that he could take on the giants by the Lord, and after 40 years of wandering, he is still strong enough to fight physically and mentally!
I want to be counted among such generation.
I might not be a 'youth' by definition, but compared to these people who were taking on promise land by the power of God, I'm still a young puppie!
And I would love to be like Caleb, when I am 85 years old gradma, to say
"...the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said."

Hey Mary, thanks for the wonderful sharing! Now that you haven mention, indeed they didn't grumble much!

In Singapore, youths' age are from 13-39; so you're still youth!

Keep your heart young!

Though we may not understand why we go through life this way, but we know what it's like to be by God's side. So, Lord..teach us to be like You, to be so faithful and true!

We must fear the Lord our God.
We must love him, and delight in communion with him.
We must walk in the ways in which he has appointed us to walk..
We must serve him with all our heart and soul.
What we do his service we must do cheerfully, and with good will.
We must keep his commandments.
We must give honour to God;
There is true honour and pleasure in obedience.
